'TRIP LANG' : 13-Anyos Patay sa Pananaga ng 4 na Lalaki sa Agusan Del Norte

In Agusan del Norte, a 13-year-old boy was senselessly murdered by four men. On Tuesday night, in Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion, Kitcharao, 13-year-old Rafael Gica was hacked to death by four locals. Rafael reportedly only went out to get some air. Sadly, this led to his gruesome demise at the hands of the violent men.

Despite his wounds, the teenager managed to make it back to his house. His family bore witness to a blood-soaked Rafael stumbling home covered in deep cuts. Rafael’s family rushed him to the hospital in the hopes of saving his life. Unfortunately, the young man was declared dead on arrival.

Rafael sustained injuries on his left arm and neck, the latter possibly being the fatal blow. Police investigated the crime and reported that the four men apparently had no motivation as to why they did this to Rafael. The young man had no enemies or anyone at all who might have wanted to attack him so violently.

Sadly, this was just a random act of violence. The men wanted to just play around and randomly killRafael when they saw him out on the street.

Senior Inspector Michael Corvera said:

“According sa ating investigator diyan, ‘yung motibo na nakalap namin sa imbestigasyon is trip lang, napagtripan lang nila ‘yung bata na mapatay kasi nung sabi-sabi doon sa lugar nila, gusto nilang pumatay ng isang local.”

The Gica family are left in shock and dismay. Rafael’s mother, Maria Lyn, could not believe that she lost her son in such a senseless way. She shared that Rafael was a happy, cheerful child and the fact that he met such a violent and gruesome death was what hurt her the most.

“Sakit sa dibdib… ‘Di ko matanggap na ganun lang parang pusa lang na pinatay ‘yung anak ko… mabait na bata naman ‘yun, hustisya lang kailangan namin! Sino pumatay sa anak ko? Batang-bata pa eh.”

The murder weapon has yet to be discovered but police say that they already have a person-of-interest who will remain nameless as the investigation is still on-going. Truly an unfortunate crime and we offer our deepest condolences to Rafael’s family and loved ones.
