Jose Maria Sison Calls President Duterte the “No. 1 Drug Addict” in the Philippines!

  • Recently, President Duterte declared that he was no longer interested in continuing peace talks with the Left.
  • CPP founder Jose Maria Sison and President Duterte have since engaged in a war of words.
  • In a statement, Sison accused Duterte of being the Philippines' "number one drug addict.
On July 30Jose Maria Sison, founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) accused President Rodrigo Duterte of being the Philippines’ “no. 1 drug addict.”
According to a report by the Inquirer, the communist leader said Duterte is the “most fitting target”of the Philipine National Police (PNP)’s bloody and violent “Oplan Tokhang” – the codename used to refer to the war on illegal drugs. Statistics from numerous sources claim that the deaths from this ongoing war have ranged between 7,000 to 9,000.
Mr. Sison was of course referring to the president’s highly publicized use of the highly potent opioid Fentanyl – a drug which Duterte supposedly uses to soothe the lingering pain he feels from spinal injuries he sustained after a motorcycle accident.
Jose Maria Sison said in a statement:
“As an addict user of the opioid Fentanyl, Duterte is the No. 1 drug addict in the Philippines and is the most fitting target of the police units that he has turned into death squads and corrupted with money and promotions.”
“But many people, including his so-called diehard supporters, are waking up to the fact that the illegal drug trade continues to thrive even in Bilibid and that Duterte has been favoring certain drug lords by delivering the street market to them where the low-level pushers of other drug syndicates have been slaughtered.”
This is the latest statement in the on-going mud-slinging between the CPP founder and the Philippine president, weeks after the peace talks between Left and the government disintegrated.
President Duterte admitted in a speech in Davao City last February, that he took more than the recommended dosage of Fentanyl. He said it relieved his pain but also made him feel like he was on “cloud nine.”
President Duterte said:
“Iyung Fentanyl, the doctor stopped it because he got mad. I’m supposed to cut it into four pieces. Eh there was a time na ‘yung buo nilagay ko because more than just the disappearance of pain, you feel that you are on cloud nine. Para bang everything is okay with the world, nothing to worry about.”
Jose Maria Sison has long criticized the Duterte regime’s violent methods in the war on illegal drugs. He called the act of killing poor suspected drug users and pushers “cowardly.”
Furthermore, he also mentioned that the president “cowardly” retracted his open threats against alleged high-profile drug personalities. These targets were supposedly Cebu-based alleged drug lord Peter Lim as well as two alleged protectors of drug syndicates – retired Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo and former Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr.
Jose Maria Sison said:
“But he has enjoyed the most the mass murder of suspected poor drug users and pushers in the urban slums by the thousands (estimated at 8,000 to 12,000) and has openly assured the obvious murderers in authority that they have the license to kill with impunity.”
“Duterte is overconfident that the poor victims, their families and even institutions cannot stand and fight against his presidential power.”
Back in March, Director Augusto Marquez Jr., head of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, released the PNP’s own data concerning the body count of the war on drugs. Marquez revealed that there were a total of 6,011 killings from July 1, 2016, to March 24, 2017.
